Originating from Sutton Coldfield, Jamal discovered his passion for motorsport at the age of 9 after unexpectedly winning a karting session at his birthday party. The sport quickly became an environment where he could channel his focus, energy and competitive mindset, particularly valuable as a young driver with ADHD.

Through structured coaching and consistent training, Jamal developed rapidly, culminating in his Midland Karting Championship victory during his first competitive season. His selection for the Daniel Ricciardo Series marks his progression from club racing to the national stage, where he continues to pursue long term ambitions within professional motorsport.

Jamal Pumuram is an 11 year old British karting driver and one of the Midlands’ brightest emerging talents. Since beginning his competitive journey with Midland Karting in 2024, he has shown exceptional progress, developing strong racecraft, precision braking skills and impressive consistency. His commitment delivered a standout rookie season in 2025, where he achieved multiple race wins and claimed the Midland Karting Championship title. Now advancing into national level racing in the Daniel Ricciardo Series (DRS50), Jamal continues to build his career with determination, discipline and a clear trajectory for the future.

biggest achievement?

Jamal’s proudest achievement to date is winning the 2025 Midland Karting Championship in his debut season. Across multiple rounds he delivered 5 race victories, numerous podium finishes and strong performances in varying conditions, cementing his reputation as one of the region’s most promising young drivers.

What got you into racing?

Jamal’s motorsport journey began at his 9th birthday karting party, where his unexpected race win revealed both natural ability and a deep passion for driving. What started as a fun introduction quickly evolved into structured training and competitive racing, setting him on the path towards national competition and a future in motorsport.
